The Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL) is one of 11 Northern Ireland Departments created in 1999 by the Department’s (Northern Ireland) Order 1999.
In Northern Ireland it is the Government Department responsible for arts and creativity, museums, libraries, sport, inland waterways and inland fisheries, linguistic diversity, archives, and for advising on National Lottery distribution.

Craft NI supports and promotes the craft industry as an integral, entrepreneurial and vibrant part of the region’s economic and cultural infrastructure. Its key partners include; regional government and agencies, local government, cultural organisations, universities and colleges of further and higher education, private business and industry.
Online training for 3rd sector for £25
A range of over 20 online training courses on topics like finding a new job, using social media and understanding today’s technology has been launched.
My Learning Pool courses are designed for community and voluntary groups, small charities, social enterprises and others in the third sector. It costs just £25 for individuals or less for bulk purchases.
Knowledge Club is an initiative designed to promote activities and encourage stronger links between University, Business and the Community. It creates an opportunity for knowledge sharing and transfer, bringing together those with common interests and creating opportunities for partnership through a number of events and forums. These events cover a number of key areas such as marketing, finance, R&D, business and technology development, Intellectual Property and funding as well as specific free one-to-one consultation forums.
Tourism is becoming an ever more important part of life in Belfast. The number of visitors welcomed to the city has grown to over six million each year. People come here to enjoy the great restaurants, nightlife, the shopping and the city’s strong cultural and artistic life.
